Should I start by learning simplified and then moving on to traditional or vice versa?

Post Body

I’m working as a volunteer copy (news) editor to help an organization translate chinese articles into american english. My goal is to be able to read the source material, which is written in traditional script, and I’m beginning to think it may be easier to start by learning simplified since there are more learners’ resources available. Is this true?
