Greetings r/ChineseLanguage!
As some of you might already know, we initiated a Media spotlight event a while back to increase the interest in studying and understanding of Chinese language and culture, as well as to spark some enjoyable conversations.
However, the response for the first post was rather lukewarm, and also due to some other issues on our end, the event was eventually put on hold.
Now with the addition of new mods, and some of those issues settled, we thought it would be good to come back to this topic and perhaps refine some of these ideas, so that the content we curate will be of interest and value to the community.
As such, polls time!
Currently, we do have 2 proposals in mind, which are:
- Continuing the original Media spotlight, but have the community request and perhaps vote on the content. Content will not only feature the song and artist info, but also possible translations and contexts for lyrics / lines , or even some grammar learning points from there.
- A new idioms/proverbs series that introduces the meaning, usage and history/contexts behind them. The community can also decide on the content through suggesting and voting.
These are not the only ones we are willing to do, so please leave a comment if you have other brilliant ideas!
Alternatively, if you have suggestions on how to improve the 2 aforementioned ideas, please leave a comment too!
