Post Body

Hey all! I'm a student of history from the UK and while I primarily study Medieval Christian Europe, it has struck me as odd that I don't know much about China. Despite it being one of the world's most enduring civilisations. So I'm hoping to rectify that!

I'm not looking for any book that gives a long sweep of Chinese history (that's a very tall order) as I'm mainly looking for works concerning the origins of China. Specifically starting with Pre-Confucian times, and then on to the Spring and Autumn Period and ending with the Middle Han Dynasty. Not in one book of course, but if you guys have works concerning these periods that you believe are insightful I'd be very pleased.

I should note as well, I cannot read Mandarin so I'm looking for good English language or translated texts. Thank you!
