Hi!
I recently moved to Vancouver from somewhere else. I am not Chinese, but my dad is remarried to a Chinese woman. I’ve gotten the vague sense from her and some people I’ve met here that Vancouver is a kind of special or even mythological place to many Chinese people. Is that just the people who moved here? What’s the deal? Is there like a cultural trope about it or something? I’m just trying to understand why so many Chinese people moved here and what they were thinking when they did…
edit: I should have been more clear. When I say "mythological" I mean "think it's an extremely nice place." And it is.
