Edited to add: not looking for advice. However, empathy, compassion, and I statements about your own experience are welcome.
I found out tonight that my mom is in a mandatory evacuation zone for a fire.
I recently went no-contact with her barring her doing family therapy with me, which she rejected (unsurprisingly).
I've been preparing for this (mentally/emotionally). She has 17 cats at last count (but who the eff knows), two dogs...and no car. I know she won't leave them.
I haven't heard from her either, which contributes to my suspicions that she is not evacuating. I mean, she might not contact anyway due to my last text to her (about my ultimatum for being in communication). I don't know. She usually always waits these things out though.
For someone who supposedly loves her animals so much, she has done nothing to prepare for this very likely scenario, and I can't be there to pick up the pieces.
Edited to add (repeating for good measure): not looking for advice. However, empathy, compassion, and I statements about your own experience are welcome.
