Tension arose during the Senate hearing after Senator Jinggoy Estrada made a remark and was called out by Senator Risa Hontiveros.

Estrada humorously asked former president Rodrigo Duterte, “Mr. President, kanina pa po kayo tumitingin sa amin, hindi po kayo tumitingin sa kanan. Nagpapansinan na po ba kayo ni former senator de Lima?”

Following this, Senator Hontiveros spoke into the mic, saying, “Mr. Chair, I beg the SP pro tempore to lead us in setting the tone that this is not a laughing matter.”

Estrada later clarified that he was simply trying to lighten the mood.
