How can I get my dogs to accept a new puppy?
Post Body

Little Ramses (7 week male Chi) is currently staying in a pen away from our other dogs, not for health reasons but because he doesn’t like our other dogs (Tuxey, a 14 yr old male corgi, Snoopy, a 13 yr old male Chi, and Daisy, a 1 yr old female Chi).

He doesn’t appear scared of them, but doesn’t like them getting close to him or his pen. He will snap at them and bark for hours if he sees them, and Daisy is the only one who barks back. She hates being barked at, so we haven’t put them close to each other.

I don’t know if Ramses needs to be an “only dog” or if there are methods to bring the dogs closer together to become friends? Daisy was a rescue pup during covid, and because of my health conditions at the time she never got properly socialized to any dogs other than Tuxey and Snoopy. I’m not sure how to go about this, getting the dogs to be friendly with each other. Tux and Snoopy are easygoing and friendly, they don’t have a problem with Ramses, but he still doesn’t like them.

My vet recommended that if they don’t get along, I should consider finding him a home where he can be the only dog, but I’m hoping to find a solution so we can keep him instead. Anyone have any ideas?
