Generally speaking, Murphy gets along with other dogs swimmingly. He loves the dog park and when we are out on walks he wants to sniff every butt that passes. But with our newest addition to the wolfpack, Ellie, being in our home he's having a bit of trouble adjusting. I'm not talking chihuahua on german shepherd puppy dog fights or anything....just territorial nipping/snapping and uncomfortable whining/growling. (It has only been 24 hours since we brought her home...and I know these things don't happen immediately)
We want everyone to get along (obviously...) and would love advice from anyone here who has brought a baby home to your Chi.
For reference: Murphy is almost 2 years old and does genuinely get along with other dogs outside our home. We never brought over a friends dog to see how he would do (maybe we should have?) but at this point most interactions with her are tail high alert with a concerned look on his face.
Is this something that just needs to run its course with supervision and encouragement when Murphy is being good (scold "no's" when he does something defensive like nipping/snapping?).
