Metra hauls ass at almost 80 mph when it doesn’t need to stop. Problem is once you get to the suburbs the stops are every mile or so so the train can only get up to so much speed before it needs to slow down again. If there was an express into the city from like La Grange at least on the BNSF it would easily shave 15 minutes off the commute. I wonder if they could run more frequent express with shorter trains, like just 2 or 3 cars, but I guess gas is gas either way.
