Tips for a newcomer
Post Body

Hello all, I've recently taken up fishing the Chicago area and would love some tips. I've caught a few smallmouth fishing the lakefront near Diversey Harbor and even hooked into something bigger which ended up breaking my line.

I'm interested in rigs, tactics, and what to use to target active species, since most of my fishing experience is from out west where the benthic environment is quite a bit different. Any help is appreciated!

For further info, I've got some soft baits but in the past have mostly fished with spinners like Panther Martin, so when I've got something different on the line I always feel a bit unsure. Thanks
