So I was first introduced to the One Chicago franchise through the SVU/PD crossovers. After avidly watching PD, I realized Fire detailed the story of Voight before he became the Sergeant of Intelligence.
For the first two seasons, boy was it a rollercoaster and a half. My perspective on PD Voight and Fire Voight are complete 180s. So many feel good, touchy, and saddening moments in the story telling that has genuinely made me tear up.
Originally started watching for Voight but I stayed for the storylines, Boden/Benny , Mills journey to squad, Severide’s conquest of the entire female Chicago population, Shay’s death. Jeez.
I’m halfway through season three and so far I’m still loving this series.
UPDATE: Just got to the Shay memorial episode and damn it. I had chills all over again, listening to Dawson and Severide talk about Shay. Her death had a bigger impact on the show to me than Olinsky’s on PD.
