I know many people will agree that the overall mixing of this album isn't the best, but upon further listening across many platforms, I have come to the conclusion that HIGH-RES is where this album shines.
I first listened to the tracks, "Self Destructor", "Remember When", etc. on YouTube, which I already know compresses music, but man, my ears were shot my how it sounded like a low-quality 128KBps MP3 file. Afterward, I purchased the vinyl album given how relatively cheap it was. Still...it was lacking in many areas. I tested it out on my Fluance RT-85, which has a Ortofon Blue stylus, there was slight improvement.
I then decided to stream it on Qobuz FLAC quality and man was I blown away by what I was missing out. IT sounds so muddy on YouTube, I don't know what version they used for their audio. Basically CD quality. Now I could tell where the mixing is lacking on some tracks, but sound-quality wise it was impressive and felt like a breathe of fresh air.
This album is one of my favorites now. I know, it's a little muddy and blown out on some tracks, but if you listen to it on FLAC or its equivalent and have only listened to the YouTube and/or vinyl version, I recommend giving it another shot.
