Although most of the show was a serious look at the technological and political problems leading up to the catastrophe, I have to admit the show had a few funny moments.
For me, the court scene where Valery Legasov asks Anatoly Dyatlov where he was if he wasn't in the control room during a key moment of the disaster unfolding.
Legasov: "Dyatlov, if you weren't in the room during that time, where were y..."
Prosecutor: "Comrade Legasov, you are a witness not a prosecutor! Mr. Dyatlov, if you weren't in the room during that time, where were you?"
That scene got a good chuckle from me. The writers and directors should be applauded for how well they executed the entire court scene. They were able to convey a lot of good scientific information in a way that was easy for the general public to digest while also interweaving those technical moments with the rest of the underlying story.
The more I rewatch certain scenes, the more convinced I am that this mini-series is definitely in my top 3 ever. It's just masterfully executed and the acting is absolutely amazing.
If I had to be critical of the show and list some weaknesses, the only thing I could think of is why they included two things that were outright embellishments at worst -- The bridge of death and the scene where they talk about the possible third major explosion that they said would be around 2-4 megatons. I'm not sure why they added that part.
