I run a nonprofit and one of our agendas is to help promote volunteering among citizens so that we can be proactive in keeping our communities self-sustaining and beautiful.

I have an idea for an initiative where a group of us can come together to target areas that are unclean and help clean up trash and then drop that trash off to recycling centers where it can be processed properly. Maybe we could make small amount of profit from the recycling which can be used to purchase protective equipment and other necessary things that can be used to organize larger events involving larger numbers of people.

Eventually we could have different chapters for different cities. I have lots of ideas for this but I still have very little clue about how recycling happens in Chennai. Do we have a robust recycling protocol? How do I find more information about such centers? Would appreciate any pointers.
