Train booking from Chengdu <> Chongqing

Hi all - I need some support in what is needed or not.

I need two train tickets for two persons from Chengdu to Chongqing on March 12 and March 15.

I can only book them two weeks ahead with the Chinese railways site there is. On some other sites (trip and others) it seems like I can book them now already but I assume they will just buy them then as well.

I will arrive in Chengdu on March 5, so 1 and 2 weeks before I need to travel.

Do I need to book now? Two weeks ahead? Or is it fine to do it when I’m there anyway? Any advice on how busy it will be?
