Updating Electra synth troubleshooting

A new postdoc has arrived in our group and he wants to patch up our old electra synth 2.0 to do some experiments on. However when he downloads the updater from https://www.ika.com/en/Services/Firmware-update-csrvf-8.html and logging in, his laptop does not detect the electra synth (either via USB connection or WIFI)
Are we missing something? Or is something broken?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: We did basic trouble shooting (turning it on and off again, new usb cable, other pc)
