Failed your perception check, which gives me a surprise round. Now I’m rolling with advantage and sniping you from the bush with a nat 20 longbow attack. Oh! You thought that’s it??? I’m a fucking gloom stalker ranger. I’m getting extra attack damage on first attack and now that it’s critical it’s EXPONENTIALLY larger. Don’t worry though, cause I also have a higher initiative WHICH MEANS after my surprise round it’ll be my turn again.
