Is it better to upload pdf or txt files?

Question in the topic title. I was just wondering if anyone had noticed a difference in a custom GPT's performance based on whether the files uploaded were pdfs or txts. I know it can handle docs, too, but I don't use Microsoft Word.

As many others in this thread have already mentioned, GPT doesn't really work with complex PDF documents. However, there is a workaround that I use called thepi.pe if you're looking for a solution that can read complex documents perfectly every time and let GPT see all visuals
