How do I get gpt3.5-turbo to stop asking permission to use a function?

I have a pretty complex chain that results in sending a API call to gpt3.5-turbo with two functions, one to check my calendar, and one to add an event. The API call won't happen if there is not an event to be added. 1/3 times that I make the API call it gives me a list of possible times and asks for confirmation, or just generally asks if I want to continue. Is there a way to force it to use the function every time? I have tried many different prompts and 1/3-1/4 times it will ask for permission.
