Hello Reddit!

I work for a school in a low income neighborhood. Many of my students live a life where school is the only safe place they have. They are constantly told by their peers, adults, and the world around them that they will amount to nothing but a life of crime and mediocrity. I am a believer in the philosophy of higher expectations leading to greater achievement. As such, we are in the process of creating a space for our students to relax and enjoy their time at school and earn a reward for positive behavior.

I am looking for any suggestions for where to start a fundraiser, donation program, or request materials and goods for a room where students can look forward to earning time playing board games, retro video games (NES, SNES, Playstation, Arcade Games, etc.) read in bean bag chairs, play chess, draw on chalkboard walls, paint on canvas, YOU NAME IT! I'm looking for any possible donations whether it's ideas of physical objects.

Most privileged schools don't have to beg for donations for most of these things. We hardly have 4 computers (one system with 4 monitors) per classroom with 26 - 35 kids per room. So, anything you can do to assist me and my students would be immensely appreciated. THANK YOU!
