Will not drive when in gear

Recently, my 2012 charger just randomly wouldnât accelerate when in drive. And putting it in park made a bad âratchetingâ like sound. At first I thought it was the shift cable connection, but the leadership said that wasnât the issue. Any thoughts on what it could be?
