In series where supernatural abilities are the focus, it's very uncommon to see people with multiple unrelated powers, other than classic packages of flying bricks. And those who do wield multiple powers usually have an elaborate reason behind how they can, from power copying to power stealing to merging with other people.
But I would like to see more instances where characters (especially protagonists) have multiple totally unrelated powers. For example, someone with the ability to create forcefield barriers in their line of sight, but they also have the ability to heal themselves by reassimilating organic matter which they touch, but also they have the power to turn water into a powerful acid by breathing on it.
By giving characters totally unrelated abilities, you can mix and match and also shore up weaknesses. Think of an interesting power that someone should have, but it's not strong enough? Augment them by giving them additional separate powers, not by just scaling that individual power up. Two characters are too similar because they have the same power? Pair them off with different secondary abilities. It can even be used to make a character look strong but not actually be strong. Wow, it sure is impressive that character A has the power to control fire, increase the gravity of objects they touch, scramble electronics, slice people with superthin wires, create bubbles that erase matter, and suck out the soul of anyone who touches him while he is looking at them. But too many of these abilities provide redundant offensive power, or are difficult to use simultaneously, which makes them not actually all that strong.
Giving people multiple totally unrelated powers (possibly even with different origins) is a relatively simple way of making fights and abilities more interesting.
