I remember a while back, there was a discussion about which medium gets the most wank. I believe it's comics because comics itself isn't based off one overall story/continuity like anime or video games. For example, a character like Superman or Batman or Spider-Man would get tons of random stories throughout decades of comics so of course there's gonna be inconsistencies. Another thing is that comic writers seem to let fan favorites fight each other regardless of their power levels since this is all about popularity. As a result, even more inconsistencies happen and this can lead to an increase in wank. No other medium experiences this as much as comics so this is why comics is possibly the most wanked.

Edit: Inconsistencies basically allow some people to go off high end feats as an excuse for their character being stronger than what everyone else believes.
