Revealing Deathstroke as Damian Wayne's Father is a Terrible Idea

Post Body

So if you were not aware, in Deathstroke #30, there is a planned reveal to Damian Wayne's true paternage. I believe this is a god-awful idea and in this rant I will explain why.

Let me talk about Damian for a second. He is my favourite Robin, and my biggest justification for that is this: He is the son of Batman. In my eyes he is the true Robin, and also the most worthy of the Batman mantle. There is a special bond between Bruce and Damian that other Robin's couldn't recreate for me, and I love him for it. There are also other reasons, like his actual ability to fight crime well before being trained by Bruce, but the connection between him and Bruce is definitely the dominating factor, and the only one like it in DC.

Now Deathstroke. I'm gonna cut to the chase and say it. DEATHSTROKE ALREADY HAS 2 NOTABLE KIDS. He doesn't need to steal Batman's only kid too.

This revelation doesn't improve anything and it entirely ruins Damian's entire character, the only Son of the Bat. I hate to say it, but if this goes through, Damian will be spoiled for me, and I'm not sure if he'll be even be my favourite Robin anymore, and I'm sure others feel the same.

But not all is lost. DC has said that readers will factor heavily to whether this happens, and you and me, the readers can have our voice be heard and stop this travesty. I hope for all ours sake that this is a bait-and-switch, because I fear the alternative.

Thanks for reading,

Coco.
