Breath of Fire Superior vs Mastered

So after leveling Elessa to 50 I'm now leveling Elontir. Going complete fire mage, and this is more of an observation than a question. It seems to me that Breath of Fire Superior has more effecient DPS than Mastered. Mastered has a HUGE deadzone where the flame is very thin and while yes it has more range than the other two, I can more consistently zone and AOE enemies with Superior than Mastered. Does anyone else prefer Superior or am I crazy? Also while the wings are cool the skull reminds me of Divinity Original Sin II lizards
