I’m sure someone else pointed this out but I need to get these thoughts out!
So far, there’s been no explanation as to why the Chainsaw devil is so strong but i have a thought. Chainsaws we’re originally invented for very old school C sections. My thought is that when they were invented the sound they made would be the first sound a baby hears as it enters the world. It’s loud and jarring which would invoke fear in the new child, therefore becoming the first fear humans feel as they enter the world. Nobody remembers being born, but so many humans would be born fearing this sound that it would still increase the fear of chainsaws even if it’s subconsciously. Since the time they used chainsaws for this would have gone on for so long before they stopped (i assume), that even when they stopped being used for that the Chainsaw devil would already be insanely strong.
Also since it’s the item that would represent the start of life, the Chainsaw devil would come to represent the fear of life which would line up with themes about life that Fujimoto is known to explore. Life is depressing, hard, scary, and for some of us hopeless so if the Chainsaw Devil represented this fear of life it would only get stronger as life gets harder and scarier.
Has anyone else pointed this out already? If not, what do you guys think about this theory?
