I use a ryobi 14" chainsaw very intermittently. I cut dead trees and into the ground sometimes. Things I know- kill the chain. I do keep the oil reserve filled.
I've bought a file to sharpen the teeth and it does improve things... for a little while. But I love putting a new chain on and cutting quick.
There's loads of low cost chains on amazon with brands I've never heard of. They have good ratings, but would anyone know if those are really legit reviews? or from people that use chain saws less than me.... it's good for the 3 cuts they do?
I've seen gadgets that go in the front of the chain saw to sharpen the chain. Are they any good?
I've heard places sharpen chain saws, but I would think the labor would be more than a whole new chain? (I'm looking at chains on Amazon for $5 each when you buy a 4 pack.)

How long would you say it takes you to file a chain?
I have the little Husqvarna file guide, but it takes me an hour to sharpen the chain on my 24" bar.
I can get good results, but I usually end up just buying a new chain half the time, so I have like 25-30 dull chains hanging up on the wall now...
