We had a huge cherry laurel taken down and the stump ground. A few months later we had hundreds of little cherry laurel shoots popping up. We are trying to dig them all out but the root system is tangled mess. Most are only three to six inches down but they’re ten to 15 feet long and interwoven so you can’t just pull them up. They’re mostly radiating from the remnants of the stump that was ground.
I’m thinking of using one of my chainsaws to sort of trench the area. The soil is mostly sand. I’m willing to sacrifice a chain to do this. We are 72 years old and our days are hitting close to 100 degrees. I can’t keep spending hours trying to do what my Stihls should be able to do it very quickly.
Any thoughts?
