Hey guys, I bought an echo cs-590 Timberwolf a couple years ago after a storm knocked down some huge old pines. Put maybe 4 hours on it and realized im smoking chains like crazy. It didn’t click that my shitty little limb saw was using about 4x the bar oil than my echo was. I took the bar off and cleaned out the oiler holes. Pulled the guide plate and made sure it was clean underneath, bar oil filter is clean. I ran the saw with no bar and watched the oiler. I got maybe a drip out of it. I figured I’d have a pretty solid flow. I’m thinking the oil pump is smoked. The shop I bought the saw from went under shorty after I bought it so I’ll have to bring it somewhere else I guess. Does the warranty transfer? Is echo good about doing warranty work? It looks like it’s about $70 for a new oil pump. Probably have to replace the bar too since it’s been run dry. I just had 5 large trees dropped around my yard thinking that I would go and break them down myself. Now I got no saw and a pile of trees. Part of me wants to just say fuck it and buy a stihl farmboss and just get to cutting. Waiting a month for a shop to tell me echo won’r warranty the saw has me worried. I paid $400 or so for it a couple years ago. I’m just not sure if the cost of the repair is worth it.
