When doing a test fire, is there any reason not to turn the kiln to the highest setting?
Post Body
I am testing a used electric kiln with a kiln sitter because the previous owner didn't check to see if it was firing to the correct cone. I'm curious if it is okay during a test fire to set the kiln immediately to high to save time. I know this is definitely not okay when firing ceramics. But if the kiln is going to be empty except for the pyrometric cones is it safe?
Edit: Fixed spelling. Darn Autocorrect.
