Clay looks like it is cracking on the wheel?

Post Body

My friend is learning to throw and she had this issue today where after she opened the form, it had these deep cracks all around it. I’ve never seen this happen before. Does anyone know why this happened?

The clay is s112 a brown speckled stoneware. It’s a brand new box of clay. Could it be too wet? Overworked? She used a lot of water and was trying to center for 40 minutes.

wayyy too much water. at one point, especially after 40 minutes of centering, you just have to go for it even if it’s not perfectly centered
