Beginner kit + Questions
Post Body

Hi guys, total beginner here, never painted a thing in my life so bear with me if I ask stuff that may seem obvious to you. I did a bit of research online but couldn't find much, so feel free to point me to a resource instead of writing footlong explanation posts, though personal experience is very welcome.

I want to get started doing some customization with vintage cameras. Most of them are made of brass and from what I read online, Cerakote is the best option for repainting.

Here's a link to better illustrate what I mean: https://www.instagram.com/p/C1T6DFMy-Cm/?img_index=1

I live in Europe and there is only one licensed applicator in my country, so I'll have to order the equipment online for sure.

Gear questions:

  1. What is the most basic starter kit I can start with?
  2. Are Cerakote paint guns all that different from regular ones?
  3. How much would you say is the initial investment to get one started?
  4. Do I need all the fancy stuff like a depth gauge or can I get away with doing things by eye?

Technique:

  1. Can you buy things from Cerakote without being licensed?
  2. Are the training courses carried out in the US exclusively?
  3. Are there any good sources online appart from r/Cerakote where I can look at tutorials & other info?

Edit: Image got deleted so I changed it to a link.
