In Ironsmith Keep the fires run low, the embers crackling as an old man watches over it. His hair white from age and a small golden circlet on the top. He stared into the fire, watching it dance to an inaudible song. He stared deeply into the fire, almost seeing an image form before the doors to the great hall opened, blowing cold air in and extinguishing the already dying flame. He growled as the fire disappeared “This better be bloody worth it.” The men who entered went to their knees and bowed down to him.

“Lord Rickon, we are sorry to disturb you.” one of the men said, half out of breath.

“Well you’ve gone and done it now, what do you want?” the old man responded while still staring at the lingering embers in the fireplace. His voice was like sandpaper, rough and low.

“We found a deserter, from the Nights Watch. He was found looting Smith’s Town (Ironsmith Hamlet)”.

“Another one? The southerners never last up on the Wall.”

“We didn’t say anything about a southerner Lord.”

“They’re always southerners, boy.”

House Ironsmith

• Lord Rickon “The Old Goat” Ironsmith

Lord Rickon is the current lord of Ironsmith Keep and patriarch of House Ironsmith. He is an elderly man, nearing 65 name-days. He is an angry old gruff who in his older age found only more things to be angry about. He is small, nearing only 5’7 and with hair of white. Despite his age he still is physically fit and able to lead his Keep without any problems. He has an odd fascination with fire, many claim it’s due to his elder brother burning to death at age 9. He is unmarried due to his wife dying of old age.

• Dalron “The Young Goat” Ironsmith

Dalron is the heir to Ironsmith Keep. He is 48 name days old and is a strapping man. He is tall, reaching 6’1 and towering over his father. He has black hair and a large black beard on his chin. He never took time in his studies and is known to be not the smartest tool in the black-smithery. Despite his lack of education he is a talented warrior with the sword and spends most of his time patrolling the land and helping defend Smith’s Town from wildlings and bandits. He is stubborn and rough around the edges like his father, giving him and his father the nicknames “The Old Goat and the Young Goat”.

• Lady Lehna Ironsmith née Stonefort

Lady Lehna is the wife of Dalron. She is 43 and the only light in the entire Ironsmith Keep. She is lively and happy, an uncommon sight among the Ironsmith. She tries to keep the ‘two goats’ in check and ensure that they treat people with kindness rather than their old “traditional” attitudes. She is small, reaching only 5’2, much smaller than her husband. She has light brown hair that seemingly only one child inherited.

• Erik Ironsmith

Erik is the son of Dalron. He is 23 name days and a young ‘fire starter’. He has become known for his overly enthusiastic views on punishing bandits and any criminals. He has been a major supporter of the King, even with the failed wars. He pushes his grandfather and even his father to support dangerous adventures and skirmishes against the South. He has black hair and reaches 5’10, still smaller than his father.

• Orwen Ironsmith

Orwen is the second and final son of Dalron. He is only 18 name days but has already given up his position in Ironsmith Keep by taking the Black and joining the Nights Watch. He is known as an honourable yet quick tempered man, most likely due to his upbringing by the gruff Ironsmiths. He is 5’8 with warm brown hair from his mother.

• Tanea Ironsmith

Tanea is the only daughter of Dalron. She is 15 name days and is just as rugged as her brothers. She is more likely to be seen on the archery range than dressed in fineries and searching for a suitor. She has black hair and reaches 5’4. She has a rather insulting personality but once close she will never abandon you. She is still mad that her favourite brother (Orwen) left to join the Nights Watch without her.

House Stonefort

House Stonefort is the vassal House of House Ironsmith. They rule over Smith’s Town as custodians of the hamlet. They are not a truly noble house and are referred to as Master and Lady.

• Master Geoff Stonefort

Master Geoff is a peculiar old man who has been involved with the Ironsmiths even before Rickon was Lord. He is the grandfather of Lady Lehna.

• Lady Elna Stonefort

Lady Elna is merely the female version of Geoff. She would tell fantastical stories to the kids of House Ironsmith as they grew up. She also shows no sign of dying despite being ‘old as the wall’.

• Roose Stonefort

Roose Stonefort is the heir of Master Geoff. He is nearing 50 name days and seems to be in worse health than his elderly father.

• Vivian Stonefort

Vivian is the daughter of Master Geoff, she is 48 name days old and is currently in Ironsmith Keep as an educator and story teller for the Ironsmiths. Although most are old enough that they do not need to be told stories. Despite this she is still a welcomed guest.
