We have a lot of Dell P55XX laptops at work, and as people have updated through 8.2, we noticed that we couldn't boot into the latest kernel with 8.2. We could boot into the old kernel (though there were some wifi issues there). We also could not boot into USBs made with the 8.2 iso on them. Most specifically, _none_ of the boot process would start post grub, so it wasn't an issue of a black screen after boot maybe graphics driver issues, or similar problems like that. No boot messages appeared at all when they were selected in the grub settings.
When we enabled Legacy BIOS support, we were able to boot, but we ran into some install issues as well: failed to install the bootloader, but I haven't fully vetted that the install issue is related to the LEGACY boot setup or if it was my attempt to preserve my /home partition in the install.
Given we were able to reproduce on several laptops, I'm wondering if anyone else has observed this, or has any advice. I'd rather not have our workaround be 'boot it in Legacy mode' which obviously doesn't support options like SecureBoot (not a necessity to have, but would be nice to have the option; nb: we ran through many permutations of SecureBoot settings and none of them enabled booting, there may be something we missed in doing so, but I'm not sure what it would be)
