How much attention do you pay to company business on days off? Do you put in for pay for that time?

My CFS does all her communicating through a group text with all of her enumerators.

I was off yesterday -- I put in full availability but had the message "no work -- not enough workload" so shut off the phone and ignored it. Now CFS is threatening to deactivate me because I didn't answer a voice call from her nor respond to discussion in the group text.

This morning she said she wants me to keep the phone with me and on at all times from 9 am to 9 pm and keep up with the group text discussion and answer any voice calls.

Is this legit? And if that really is required, can I put in for pay for any of that time (not all 12 hours a day of course, but 15 or 30 minutes)?

Sorry to sound like I'm nit picking. Once upon a time I was a very dedicated employee, did hourly jobs like they were salaried, did this or that task on off hours when needed without quibbling. But since then, employers have gotten to where they provide the absolute minimum required by law, so I say "Right back atcha!"

Curious about others' experience, thanks.
