I have read that a 4/4 cello has a vibrating string length of 69 cm. When I measure from the nut to my bridge it is 70 cm. I have also read that the after length should be one sixth of the vibrating string length. My after length measures 12.5 centimeters. 1/6 of 69 equals 11.5 cm.
It seems like my bridge is back towards the tailpiece a full centimeter than it should be?
My bridge is lined up with The Notches in the F hole and my luthier seems to have been conveying (although he didn't give me the exact details) that my cello is a little bit wonky.
Can anybody tell me what kind of effects this might have on the playability and the tone?
