Some background: I’m a violinist who started learning cello about 6 months ago. I can’t afford lessons so I’m mostly self-taught, though I did have my sibling (an intermediate ex-cellist) and at this point I’ve almost caught up to them.
I’ve been working my way through the Suzuki books, supplementing with the Kummer exercises. I’m finishing up Suzuki book 3 soon and am wondering what repertoire would be good to work on at this stage. I’ll definitely get Suzuki book 4, but I’m also looking to start expanding my collection outside the Suzuki books.
My question: What other etude books would people recommend working on concurrently with Suzuki 3/Suzuki 4? Are there any small concertos or sonatas I could start working on outside the Suzuki books? What are the easiest Bach movements and at what point would people recommend starting those?
