I’m not celiac, I’m diagnosed with non-celiac gluten sensitivity.
I’m not very sensitive to cross-contamination. I usually eat products that say “may contain wheat” and “contains gluten” in them, I just don’t eat products with actual gluten-containing ingredients in the ingredients list and I don’t have any reactions from that.
So some days ago I thought that maybe I could tolerate regular oats instead of my gluten-free oats… guys… I got badly intoxicated. I have the classic intestinal symptoms (bloating, pain, weird bowel movements) but the scariest symptoms from them all are the gluten ataxia brain fog migraines and headaches with neuropathic pain. I usually say “I’m feeling gluten dumb”. Slurred speech, I get confused, foggy, slow, I stumble on things, forget words, can’t properly type, I forget how to speak another language I’m fluent in, I can’t think properly. My hands, face and feet tingle and I have weird sensations. I have aura migraine attacks. That almost sent me to the hospital some days ago thinking I was having a stroke when I finally remembered I had eaten regular oats. I wonder if anyone has really bad and scary neurological symptoms like me.
