In Hollywood, it's hard to meet people. People live isolated lives and when every single facet of your life gets documented by the tabloids, you don't go on dates to try and figure things out.

So it wasn't unheard of for relationships to get set up for people. They were almost always for publicity - two people working on new projects would start something new, do a spread in US Weekly, get lots of views, and break up after a premier.

There were also some fake relationships that had slightly different goals. When you weren't working on a project, sometimes it make more sense to have a relationships that could help cultivate a lifestyle image. There was no expiration date, even if most of them didn't last beyond a year or two.

These relationships were social media conscious: lots of glamorous Instagram pics all over LA, cutsie anniversary posts, and clout-building power couple stuff day in and day out.

I'd recently started in with a new guy in an arranged relationship. We didn't know each other beforehand, but my manager said he was just what I was looking for. We'd get to be cute on Instagram, get some new followers, and look good for a while.

What I didn't know was that fake relationships sometimes got a little complicated. That much time together always made things a little more intimate, and soon my relationship with have a secret dynamic added to it.
