That portion of the trip started off fine, clear skies, smooth highways and good music on the radio, but quickly turned to disaster, when a storm rolled in seemingly out of nowhere and made driving less pleasant, if not unsafe, so they pulled into a motel on the highway, detailing their plans to see a certain sight that afternoon. The place was barely even occupied, so a couple of rooms were easy to come by, and overall it was a nice break in the driving, leaving them with some idle time to discuss a plan for the next day…
