Looking for reading on Valley Oak forests
Post Body

This is something I'm not finding much about through web searching.

I'm originally from Tulare County. Also finally getting around to making a day of the Kaweah Oaks Preserve in the different seasons. Growing up I've always heard Visalia was originally a spectacular oak forest, but nothing is ever elaborated on.

Ideally I'm hoping to read historical accounts and nature studies both on the Q. Lobata forests that used to exist. I just don't particularly know which direction to turn.

What are you aware of I should seek out and read?
