Finally letting go of my late fathers radio station CD collection and I am struggling with it

Post Body

In the early to mid 00’s, my dad was a small time radio station broadcaster through a website called Live365. His stations focused on instrumental, non-smooth jazz (funk and acid jazz, etc). He won several Broadcaster awards for his efforts. Due to rising music licensing costs and the killing off of affordable legal ways for small broadcasters to be able to do this, my dad ended his radio station sometime before 2010, and Live365 effectively ended (last I read) at least in its main form sometime in the mid 10’s.

My dad passed away a few years ago, but he had held on to his thousands of CDs he had amassed for his beloved stations. Most of them in great shape bc he only took them out the once to rip them.

After 3 years of holding onto them, along with his hundreds of guitars & other music gear, I finally put them up for auction. But, I negotiated with the auction house to individually photograph the front & back of every single CD & give me the pictures, so that I will know everything my dad listened to.

The auction is ending later this evening and it feels weird to let them go, even though there’s no way I could store them. I just hope they go to someone who will appreciate them like he did.

I’m a little miffed that the auction house didn’t bother to list titles or even genres so people are just blindly bidding on a CD collection without knowing the history.

Anyway, I just needed to rant.
