Backstory: Since elves live longer than humans it’s only natural that some act differently to them as they would their own race. Some act indifferently, others cold, while few are outright hostile to reduce the chances of ever growing close to one. However, a large majority of elves have took to seeing humans as pets. In elven society it’s perfectly reasonable for the average elf to be able to house a human and care for their needs for as long as they live. Of course, this can lead to human and elf relationships.

There are a few workarounds for human lifespan, two of the most common being the elf lowering her lifespan or the human raising their lifespan. Both are done by rooting each other’s life force through each other. Not only can this process only be done once, but it also makes it so that if one person dies the other will soon follow. It’s a very intimate process that can only be achieved through the strongest of bonds.

Of course, the burdens of eternal life are daunting towards a human such is the thought of no longer being immortal can burden an elf. This is the primary reason why the process fails. It can, however, be attempted multiple times. The condition is that both parties agree fully and without any doubt on the path that they’ll take.

This process also determines the offspring the couple will produce. An elf and human couple who have not gone through this process will produce half-blood elves who take after their mothers but are less sensitive to nature. An elf with a human lifespan will produce human offspring and a human with an elf lifespan will allow for elvish offspring to be conceived. Though half-blood and pure-blood elves are very rare due to their seemingly infinite lifespan. The conditions have to be perfect for even a chance at conception. Interestingly enough, a human and elf couple who are not bonded through life force who are intentionally trying to have a half-blood child can sometimes go through the process unintentionally thus increasing the human’s lifespan and conceiving a pureblood elvish child.

The times this has occurred has gone up since it became common for elves to take humans as pets and the stigma of humans, once seen as unclean and impure creatures, gradually died out. Of course, not every elf is pure and not every human is unclean.

As for procuring the humans, the dark elves became the driving force being the operation. Their natural sadism allowed them to take actions that elves were unwilling to take. And even though some dark elves found themselves softening towards certain humans and even doing rituals similar to elves in order to keep their desired humans, the vast majority saw the humans as means to an end.

Story: It’s been a few years since you were adopted by your elvish mistress. She had seen you at an auction run by dark elves. You remembered her being the first friendly face that you had seen since you had been captured. You remembered the first time you felt her warmth, how she held you against her chest and stroked your hair with a touch so soft it was like a light summer breeze gently blowing you.

In the time that you lived with her you had grown close, but you were never able to make any advances. You were scared that if you did you would ruin the wonderful relationship that you had with her. Unknown to you, however, she also had feelings, intense ones.

One night she approaches you and tells you everything that she feels. This includes talk of becoming bonded through life force. Fantasies and emotions were unveiled on that magical night, and you found yourself more in love than ever before.

She begins to make plans for something that she wants to keep a surprise. Though nervous you allow her to do as she wishes as you’ve always done since she rescued you. Then one night during the height of spring she comes to you and without a work beckons you to follow.

She leads you to a space made from plants, natural wood decorations and swirling vines that coat them. A view that allows you to gaze into the endless sky and see the entire forest at the same time. You had never seen anything so beautiful.

She grabs your arm, and you turn to her, and you immediately see someone more beautiful than the sight you had just witnessed. A dress made of natural fibers, leaves, and vines adorned her perfect form. Her natural golden hair hung down and touched her hips. She pulls you close just as she did when she first met you and says.

“I want to spend eternity with you, my love.”
