There are many kinds of succubi, one for each of the seven deadly sins, ones for certain fetishes, and even some who bend the rules to consume energy by caring even when sex or lust has no bearing on the situation. However there are a few that remain mostly unknown as they can be classified as normal succubi hailing from the lust circle, but their actions and abilities far surpass their counterparts in certain fields. One of such succubi are the Consumers of Nightmares.

These succubi are few and far between as becoming a Consumer of Nightmares means separating from basic monster principles, primarily pitting them against Nightmares, the night centaurs. While most of the time Nightmares are in complete control over the situation and can swoop in before things get out of hand, there are always the younger ones that are in over their heads. In cases like these, the situation falls under “Extenuating Circumstance” and intervention by monsters which would get between the Nightmare and their desired humans is protected by the most basic of the Demon Queen’s laws “Humans are to be protected and kept safe.”

Of course, Succubi, rarely committing to anything other than sex with their attention being as fickle as the wind, rarely are able to learn to counter the abilities that Nightmares have, and since Succubi are the only monsters who are truly capable of both noticing and counteracting such things, the Nightmare usually realizes what they’ve done and can quickly undo the damage of the situation. The consequences of such an action are not permanent but still requires the Nightmare to constantly monitor their chosen human for signs of reoccurring against the Nightmare’s wishes resulting in the common consensus that younger Nightmares need to be watched.

Unfortunately, due to the intimate nature of a Consumer of Nightmare’s methods, they can only save a single human because they end up falling in love with who they saved. Fortunately, the seemingly infinite lifespan of a succubus allows for the chance of a Consumer of Nightmares to be lurking in the night at any given time, discouraging young Nightmares from doing things they have not yet mastered. This alone is why there are any Consumer of Nightmares left.
