Curious about less known Catholic "folk beliefs"
Post Body

I love respectfully looking into faiths and belief systems and all the little parts that can be less known. I was hoping maybe this sub reddit would be kind enough to help make me aware of a few.

A good example of one, is that I'm aware some catholics believe there will be a period of about 24hrs where the earth is plunged into darkness, and only blessed candles will be able to provide light.

Now, I call it a "folk belief" because I lack a better term for it. I'm not aware of this being directly supported by the church. And Im not aware of a very direct refference to it in the Bible, unlike something such as The Holy Eucharist in which Jesus directly tells his followers to do it.

Anyway, any direction would be very appretiated.
