1. Checking users' post histories is your prerogative.

2. If a someone sends you creepy/terrible/sinful messages, then let us know and we will ban him (or her). Or, if someone is committing bannable offenses on this sub, let us know and we'll also ban them.

3. If someone is acting fine and charitable on this sub, or they even post something you disagree with (but doesn't break the rules), but then you check their post history and find some unsavory things on different subs, we will not issue bans for that. The cost of banning is that they could potentially be learning or growing through discussions on this sub, but we take that away. The oft-discussed benefit of banning is that it protects our users from creepy PMs...but it doesn't. Banning a person from this sub does not prevent PMs from being sent. I think the expected cost here outweighs any expected benefits.
