Hey guys I'm the proud owner of a almost two year old Catahoula. I got him from a shelter of all places when he was 5 months old. He's probably the smartest dog I've ever had and easiest to train. However, since day one he's had this sort of chip on his shoulder. He's VERY food motivated but equally toy motivated. He's always shown aggressive behavior with his food though. "Resource guarding". For the last several months (goin on about six or seven) we've been feeding him all his meals by hand. We have to keep a muzzle on him in the house because theres a dominance struggle in the house with an older dog and they've fought countless times and I don't know if all Catahoulas are like this but when he fights he's almost impossible to call off. We have him on a pretty extensive training program but he still like I said has that chip on his shoulder. Doesn't like being messed with when he's resting and all that. It's crazy. Never had a dog that would pass up praise and love. Any others have a similar experience?
