We took in a stray that was abandoned at just a couple weeks old back in Sept/Oct, he is becoming well socialized with the other pets but is far more energetic and needy when it comes to exercise/play, as well as more vocal (he literally yells around the house 30 times a minute sometimes for hours at a time) when he is bored or wants something but he is relatively good at showing me exactly what he wants and I am training myself to understand his requests to limit rewarding boredom yelling when I cannot help him.
He has developed a new behavior I am sure Im somehow reinforcing in him, I want to correct myself and him because it escalated quickly.
3-4 days ago he came running up to me with purpose, his eyes fixate on mine unless a limb was in reach, he would meow excessively and bite/mount my leg or arm until he could get to my face… I have not let him reach my face in fear of what he might do but even still what he was doing was undesirable.
Two days later he did the same to my girl keeping her from sleeping, I was knocked out cold but she described identical behaviors to my experience but he had now acquired and a new target.
Just now he did it again to me but when I stopped him, he focused on mounting the older cant and eventually latched a bit onto the dogs face, he is big and patient and cautious so he just stared at me until I removed the kitten then went to his comfort spot.
The kitten has calmed down but hes still yowling out for attention, I am gonna play with him and tire him down but I wonder if these behaviors are common and am seeking new tips to do better and keeping his energy in check..
Will be going to the vet soon, he has yet to be neutered and we are going to see if it’s recommended.. is it possible this is related?
