I'm beginning to lose my mind. I have done everything I possibly can and have spent hundreds of dollars trying to find some way to curb Frank's misbehavior. (sorry for formatting issues. I'm on mobile)
Here's some information:
—He's approximately five years old and has been doing this for approximately this long as well. He is a Turkish Van.
—I was given Frank by an exroommate who also had two dogs. This girl very clearly favored her dogs and ignored Frank often so I surmise he started doing it to get attention.
—I live in a large room no different than a one bedroom apartment in a house with other people. Frank gets to come out supervised sometimes because again, if he isn't supervised and is allowed to freeroam, he will pee on other people's things as well. When his previous owner had him she let him roam free and he peed all over the house and never cleaned it up.
—It started with rugs and things left on the floor, then progressed to things like shoes, the edges of furniture, and now my bed and my girlfriend's bed.
—Hes a percher, so things like puppy pads were difficult because he would sometimes miss. They worked for a little while and then stopped.
—I tried one of those grass pads for your dog with a pad inside. Didn't work for more than a few months and even then he was still peeing other places too.
—I have tried multiple litter boxes, and he ignored the extra. Multiple litters. Those hormone collars. Those hormone plug-ins. Sprays. Moving litter boxes. Putting food near things he pees on. I am cleaning everything with enzyme sprays when he pees, too. I've gone through a bottle and a half over just a year and a half or so.
—I got a perching litter box back in February and he went a month without any accidents, and then I left for three days (while having someone check on him and play with him often) and he had peed alllll over the bed while I was gone and he hasn't stopped. I had to buy a mattress cover because of it.
—He has a clean bill of health. No crystals, no UTIs, nothing.
—I've tried associating the bed with other things and that isn't working either. There's no rhyme or reason to when he does it because sometimes he pees in his box, which is always very clean.
Frank is an absolute sweetheart and he's my whole world but I am so upset all of the time because he won't stop and I don't know what to do. I'm at my wits end.
I think my only option left is medication of some sort and I don't know if I can afford that. Is there ANYTHING else I could try before I go that route?
Edit: he is also fixed
It would still work. You just sprinkle it in. Dr Elsey litter attractant
Can you put a waterproof tarp on them whenever you’re not in it?
