I’m desperate for help with my 11 year old cat going outside the litter box.

Post Body

I’ve had my cat Frankie for 11 years. She was a bottle fed baby, barely had her eyes open when I got her. Shes moved with me 8 times. Gone through countless litter boxes, different types of litter, everything. And I’ve never had a problem with her not using the litter box. My husband and I moved out of state last year and she started peeing outside of the box. Literally right in front of it on the floor. I took her to the vet, $900 later she has a clean bill of health and no answers. I’ve tried feliway in the house, added an extra box (for a total of three) since I have two cats, but that box went completely untouched by both cats. We moved to a new house recently and at first she was doing better, but then started up again. Took her to a new vet to see if he had any other suggestions, he did not. We’ve tried moving the boxes. Still the same result. My husband and I are renting. And cat pee is literally the worst, most damaging thing. It’s also damaging to our moods, our mental health. I don’t know what else to do. She won’t take medications. She’s not a nice cat in general, never has been. She attacks people when they come over. Hisses and scratches. I’m at my wits end. If she was a nice cat maybe I could rehome her, but no one would be able to come near her. I’m open to any suggestions.. but I feel like giving her up is my only option and letting a rescue or shelter decide what to do with her.. and that’s devastating.
